ANNOUNCEMENTS
--------------------
TRANSITIONS - Greg Baker, Director of Outreach and Construction Education Foundation Chair, has accepted a position with a management consulting firm effective this coming September. During Greg's five-year tenure with the department, he has helped strengthen our ties to industry and expanded our internship programs. We appreciate Greg's contributions to our students, our program, and the Apperson Renovation Project and wish him well in his new endeavors.

MORE TRANSITIONS - Ken Williamson, CCEE Department Head, will enjoy a nice, long vacation following next weeks graduation ceremonies. He leaves his half-time position in civil and construction engineering, and continues on as interim school head in Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering. Ken has been department head in CCEE for eight years, although he officially retired in 2002 and started working in ChE in 2003. As Ken slips away, Scott Ashford will ease in.

CEM EDGES CE 22-9 in SOFTBALL - In a closely contested pitchers' duel between Walt Trimmer and Tom Miller, the CEM squad nipped the CE team 22-9 in the ninth inning. The game was tied after one, but several balls got past the CE fielders and runs started to accumulate. Speedy John ‘Gamba' Gambatese was seen flying around the bases. Both teams benefited from the good crowd on hand including Nancy and Andy Brickman, Cindy Olson and family, Ken Archibald (our ASCE practitioner advisor), and friends. Thanks go to the ASCE and AGC social chairs who organized the game and picnic - Grant Lappi, Laura Elbert and Alena Demaggio. It was a fun time!
